Strategic Planning Projects

  • Developed and implemented drug utilization review, clinical practice guidelines, treatment algorithms, and educational intervention programs enabling pharmaceutical manufacturers to partner with their managed care customers.
  • Helped a major pharmaceutical company develop an integrated strategic plan for marketing in the managed care, federal, hospital, and long-term health care sectors.
  • Conducted a product reimbursement project for a medical device company that identified maximal reimbursement methods for hospital clients.
  • Assisted management in identifying and understanding changes in public and private health care policy, interpreting the likely business implications, and formulating appropriate responses.
  • Conducted a cost-effectiveness study comparing outcome, length of stay, and hospital charges among therapeutic alternatives (thrombolytic drugs and surgery) for treating peripheral arterial occlusion.
  • Assisted a company, through an interactive workshop, in understanding the implications and responding to the issues of therapeutic substitution and a potential National Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Identified and defined components contributing to rapidly escalating prescription expenses for the employer members of a health care coalition. Evaluation included analysis of trends, supply characteristics analysis, state-of-the-art review, analysis of potential methods to help control costs, and the financial implications of various alternatives to existing programs.
  • Developed an economic model for a medical device manufacturer to position a new medical device in a favorable manner for public and private payers.
